Come with us for a day sailing a yacht in the Solent aboard our luxury 34ft sailing yacht the Half Nelson.
No previous sailing experience is necessary. This is a great introduction to this fabulous sport and a fun day out. Great value at £99 per person.
You can either take control of the boat or sit back and enjoy the ride, all under the watchful eye of our qualified skipper. With a maximum of just 5 guests you’ll have plenty of time to take turns at the wheel.
The purpose of the day is for you to sail the boat under the careful supervision of our skipper. The day runs from 10:00 to 16:30. We meet at 10:00 in the marina before climbing aboard Half Nelson. After coffee and a safety briefing we usually depart our berth around 10:30.
We will show you how to steer the boat, adjust the sails and navigate your way around the Solent.
For lunch, we either come alongside in one of the local marinas or take a packed lunch out with us. All refreshments afloat throughout the day are included but lunch and drinks ashore are not provided.
After lunch we continue sailing and return to our marina around 16:30.
Our sailing activity is perfect for anyone who fancies having a go at sailing but never got round to it or those who have had some experience but want to brush up on their skills.

What is included

What is not included
Pay and display parking in the marina which is £7 per day.
Lunch, which is either taken ashore in one of the marinas or a packed lunch which can be purchased in the marina at the start of the day.
Half Nelson is a well designed 34 ft sailing yacht, safely built in Sweden by Maxi Yachts. On deck equipment includes roller reefing headsail and in-mast reefing mainsail with all control lines leading aft into the cockpit. The cockpit is deep and well protected with a wrap-around glass windscreen and sprayhood.
Below decks the electronic navigation instruments include GPS chart plotter, radar, and a full compliment of Autohelm instruments. There is a microwave cooker, refrigerator, running hot water and WC. There are safety harnesses & lines, life jackets and wet weather clothing available for all on board, not to mention two life rafts! Half Nelson conforms to the Department of Transport Code of Practice for commercial sailing yachts and has been certificated by the Port of Southampton to carry seven passengers.
Light weight life jackets are provided which we ask to be worn at all times afloat.
We sail in rain or shine, so also available is a full set of wet weather gear for each guest, should it be required.
You need not bring any specialist clothing, apart from trainers on your feet.
The design of the cockpit is such that it is not a wet boat in which to sail, so you should keep dry, but due to the vagaries of British weather, it is sensible to bring a change of clothes, fleece type jacket and perhaps a sweater, and in the summer, plenty of sun cream and a sun hat.

Payments should reach us within the next five days. We will confirm your booking and send you the joining instructions by return. Gift vouchers are also available.
Cancellations
If you have to cancel for any reason whatsoever, provided that you give us 21 days notice before the commencement of the booking, we will send you a full refund of all monies paid. It is important that you let us have a telephone contact number including a mobile. In the unlikely event of adverse weather conditions or other operational difficulties we may need to postpone the activity so we need to be able to contact you 48 hours before the event. In this situation we will either reschedule the activity or refund you, but this will be the limit of our liability.
Insurance
The yacht and crew are fully insured against third party liability due to negligence by us. However no liability can be accepted by us for any loss or damage to the property of the client.
No Smoking
For everyone's safety and comfort there is no smoking aboard Half Nelson.
